Frank Trocino's vibrant and dynamic paintings are informed by his work as an architect, in particular his experience at his company Studio Avanti, where he used digital design tools and CAD. The most significant influence on his style, however, are cubism and mid-century modern architecture and illustration. Trocino is drawn to cubism because it represents freedom and the ability to look at things no so much as they appear, but as what they represent. Elements of Gris and Jean Metzinger are apparent in Trocino's work. Also evident is the style of the great magazine illustrators of the Fifties and Sixties, such as Coby Whitmore and Jon Whitcomb.
