Brad Stroman's finely executed paintings honor the natural world, its imperfectly perfect beauty. They are pervaded by a zenlike wabi sabi esthetic, as well as an indigenous sensibility. Organic objects--leaves, or feathers, or stones, or nests--are painted with a high realism. The trompe l'oeil (deceive-the-eye) attention to detail creates the illusion of their floating above a beautifully weathered surface.

This visionary art is unique--in its lushly beautiful palette, in its ritualistic compositions combining geometry and ragged edges, and in its maturely developed technique. Convergence Gallery is pleased to present Imperfect Beauty, Brad Stroman's first solo show in Santa Fe.
